Everything works on your phone, offline. With a Pro subscription your trips and expenses are also saved to your account so they survive a lost phone — readable only by you. Receipt images stay on your device. Taxledger does not sell or share your data with anyone, and shows you no advertising.

Signing in with Google creates an account held by Google Firebase on our behalf. It stores your Google account identifier, email address and display name. With Pro, it also holds your trips, expenses, vehicles and remembered routes, so a new phone can pick up where the old one left off. Security rules limit every record to the signed-in owner: no other user, and no other app, can read them. If a subscription ends we stop saving new records, but never withhold what is already there — you can always restore it.
Taxledger uses your location for exactly one purpose: measuring how far you drove. Distance is computed on your phone, and only the result — how far, and when — is saved to your account. The route itself is never uploaded, and stops are never sent to a geocoding service, which is why trips show distance and time rather than place names.
With automatic detection on, Android lets Taxledger notice when a drive starts while the app is closed or not in use. Recording begins only when the system reports vehicle movement, and stops when the drive ends. Before this access is requested the app shows a disclosure explaining it, which you can decline. You can switch to manual start/stop at any time in Tracking, and background access is never required to use the app.
The activity permission lets your phone report "driving started" or "walking" without keeping GPS on. That signal is processed on-device by Android and is not stored beyond the trip it starts or ends.
Attaching a receipt uses your camera or photo library. Text is read from the image on your device to pre-fill the amount, merchant and date. Receipt images are not uploaded.
Everything is stored in the app's private storage on your device, and the app works fully offline. With Pro, trips, expenses, vehicles and remembered routes are also copied to your account so a new phone can restore them. Receipt images and your backup folder never leave the device. "Delete all data" in Settings clears both copies.
Subscriptions are processed by Google Play. Taxledger never sees your card details. Google's handling of payment data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
There are none. No analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, and no crash-reporting service receives your data.
Settings → Delete deletes your account and everything stored with it, then clears this phone. You can also request deletion without opening the app — see Delete your account.
Taxledger is a tax tool for working drivers and is not directed to children under 13.
